Daniel is happy his cows are at the house now. There are close to 700 registered cows that all have to be run through the barn after they calve. The calves get tagged and tatooed. A heifer calf could be worth close to $1400 and a bull calf could some day be worth $30,000-$50,000. Daniel takes this job very seriously, it is a lot different than the commercial cows we're used to. The kids are now able to go and feed or check cows with him, which is fun for them and a nice break for me. They have just started to calve, he got 3 yesterday.

Kiley is so cute. Her little smile is so cute. I'm glad to hear the big kids get to go feeding with Daniel. That's definately one of the best perks in our livelyhood. Is Daniel ready for calving season? Jason isn't (neither am I) but it seems as if calving season is already upon us. He came home this morning and said he's up to six calves now. We are so unprepared that he doesn't even have tags or a tag pen to tag the calves with!
Hey Summer,
It's Katie (Allen) Nickle here. I saw a comment on another blog I check quite often from you where you left your blog address. I don't have a blog yet, just set up an account. I don't think I'll get one really soon. But, I love looking at other blogs and I communicate and send pictures via e-mail.:) Ya gotta love technology these days. I'd love to hear from you. Write me when you get a chance. lady_almathea@yahoo.com.
Your Hubby sounds as busy as mine!
He is also just starting calving! I figure I will see him again around November right?
