Field Trip Results

When I picked Cailin up from her field trip at 3pm I could tell she was tired. Iwas anxious to hear how it went. ( I thought about her all day!) She told me who she sat next to on the bus. She said they ate their lunches downstairs where they'd hung their coats. She said there were dinasour bones and even real, pretend dinasours. Then she said she didn't like the star room because she felt like she was moving. Later she told me that she got in a little fight with a certain child she's had problems with before. They worked it out though and both apologized for being rude. I was glad to hear they worked it out. Overall she enjoyed her field trip and it gave me a day in town with one less child to take into public restrooms!

Town

The night before Cailin's field trip was a sleepless one for Kiley and me. Needless to say I wasn't quite ready by the time I took Cailin to school. I had to come home and finish getting ready. This put our time back and the nursing back, etc, etc. It was not a fun trip to town, which is a bummer because when you live this far out you sort of look forward to going to "town" and getting out. Colten had a sick tummy and we had to visit 4 different public bathrooms 6 times. The whole time toting around a baby carseat and trying to keep germs off of everyone! When it was finally time for lunch Colten had to use the bathroom again and wanted to eat at McDonalds. I pulled into the parking lot and the drive through was packed so I thought we'd go in and use the bathroom and order inside. The next thing I knew was all these high school kids were walking into McDonalds, it was only a block from the school and it was lunch hour. Plan B: I drove across the street to Burger King and then got gas and took Colt to the restroom there. I still had to get groceries! Kiley did pretty good considering she was in the carseat almost all day. When I finally did get to the grocery store I bought double of everything on my list because I really don't want to re-do that day ever again!

School Field Trips

Well, tomorrow my first born will embark on her first field trip, her first ride on a school bus, her first time going anywhere without Daniel or me. I'm so excited for her. They are going to Bozeman to explore The Museum of the Rockies. They have dinasour remains, science things, and a planetarium I think. Amidst the excitement I feel some nervousness. Will she be like "Nemo"? Is she going to stay in her seat on the bus, or will she get yelled at by the bus driver like I did a couple times. Probably not. Will she trade her lunch for someone elses? Did my mom feel these feelings when I went on field trips? She probably felt them with her first born too, but by the time I came along... Anyhow, here is a picture of Cailin when she was a baby.

Colten, Kiley and I will also head to Bozeman to do some grocery shopping and other things. The plan is to nurse Kiley before getting Cailin ready for school, then nurse her in Bozeman before we start our errands. I'll probably have to do it in the car, not a fun thought with a busy three old. I'm gonna have to bring some formula just in case!

Goldfish

While Daniel and I were at the hospital my parents took the kids to the school Halloween Carnival. They had a lot of fun. The highlight of their experience was winning goldfish. My dad called to ask us to pick up some fish food. They were living in a quart jar for ten days. They were still alive so we decided to get the hardy little fish a small tank. Cailin named her fish Kelsey. Colten named his Tractor.

My Labor Story

I thought I better tell my story of how baby Kiley was born so I don't have to keep repeating it and exagerating it!

I wasn't feeling well on Tuesday so I called my parents to ask if they could come that night instead of the next day. I was worried I might go into labor during the night and they'd have to drive while I waited. They came and the baby didn't. However after a nap on Wednesday afternoon my water broke around 3pm. I wasn't sure so I called the Dr. He said to come to his office, that he'd wait even though it would be after 5. I had some pain before we left, but for the hour drive it took to get there I didn't have one contraction. I thought he'd send us home and I'd be induced in the morning. My water had broken and we went to the hospital. The walking around helped get things going. They wouldn't give me an epidural until I was a 4. By then I was in a lot of pain and the anestesiologist was busy so the Dr. tried to give it to me. I was shaking so bad he didn't get it in the right spot. Finally the anestesiologist arrived and redid it. I did have to have the Pitocin to make it go faster. I pushed for 45 minutes and Kiley Summer Orton was born at 1:09am. I'd never even met the doctor on call, but he was great! Kiley weighed 6 pounds 15 ounces, and was 20 3/4" long. As you can see from the pictures she has lots of blond hair. She sleeps better than Cailin and Colten ever did. It does take her almost an hour to nurse, which can get tiring in the middle of the night. I am soooo sooo glad she's here and my body is mostly mine now!

SUPER KIDS

A big thanks to Aunt Christa. She sent us a huge, fun care package with all sorts of things for the kids to do while I'm occupied with Kiley. They have been playing all afternoon and having so much fun! She also sent the cutest cowboy/girl blanket. When my camera starts working again I'll post that picture. My camera is tempermental. I just got it in March and it turns on when it wants to. Do you think Wal-mart will take it back? I don't have the reciept.
My parents left last night after dinner. They were here a week and really helped me out. They watched the kids while we were at the hospital, and helped me out after Kiley was here. My mom made all the meals and played with the kids. My dad did some fix it things around the house and played with the kids as well. He also took me to Kiley's first doctor visit so I didn't have to take her into the store. When town is an hour away you have to do all your errands that day. He was a great babysitter!
It has been a dark, rainy, election day. It reminds me of memorial day. You know, it always rains because people are a little sad remembering their loved ones. I think it rained today because whoever becomes the next president will make us all cry! I must have a bad attitude because I don't trust either of the candidates. Its a lose, lose situation. My friend Jamie wouldn't be very happy with me! Happy voting!
